- This jacket is made from Waterproof Summerwool, a lightweight wool fabric designed for warm-weather use that combines wool’s natural breathability and softness with water resistance properties. When the fibers encounter water, they naturally swell, reducing gaps in the fabric and creating a waterproof effect. Along with wool’s moisture-wicking, temperature-regulating, and draping qualities, the fabric is breathable, comfortable, and perfect for summer jackets.
The silhouette is inspired by the jackets worn by contemporary fishermen in Hainan, reinterpreted for INSULAiRE's aesthetic. Diamond-shaped details reference the woven straps traditionally used in Hainan to carry children, as well as architectural motifs common in Southeast Asia and Chinese culture. The design draws from the “tingzai” (fisherman) jacket, updated from the administrative-style jackets worn by modern-era fishermen. The structure is clean in the sleeves and collar, while the hem is gathered with elastic—a nod to the functional, busy environment of the port. Extra room in the cut allows freedom of movement, reflecting the practical needs of laboring fishermen.
