SHARKY "INDIGO"
Details:
- An interesting reinterpretation of 1920s denim. Featuring an exaggerated leg twist which isseen in vintage pairs, and the asymmetrical patterning enhances both structure and visual character. Also added gusseting at the crotch for enhanced structure and mobility.
The construction is highly unconventional—only the left leg has an lateral side seam, the right leg has medial side seam. The leg itself is cut from a single piece. Traditionally, denim legs are made from two mirrored panels cut by folding the fabric; here, Niceness reworks that process entirely, using distinct patterns for the left and right legs.
This approach requires more cutting and sewing, taking additional time and precision, yet results in a silhouette that appears familiar—echoing the look of traditionally made jeans while offering a subtle but innovative difference.
The denim is crafted from 13oz right-hand twill raw denim. The fabric is made using rope-dyed pure indigo yarns with a white core, woven from slub yarns blending primarily American cotton with high-quality cotton from Central and South America, resulting in a rich, textured surface.
As an unprocessed raw fabric (kibata), it features a natural fuzziness unique to untreated denim, along with a distinctive aging character that develops with wear. Rooted in workwear tradition, this piece proposes a unique, forward-looking silhouette for the next generation.
