LOT.309 BUCKLE-BACKED JACKET "INDIGO"
Details:
- Based on the Lot.703 Denim Jacket, this piece takes a pared-back approach, featuring a single patch pocket and minimal detailing, with pleats secured by single stitching at the front. The construction follows 1920s techniques, resulting in a flat silhouette defined by horizontally set sleeves and clean, level shoulder lines.
The fabric is a jacquard known as Tupelo Madras Chambray, a material that rose to popularity in the 1930s for work shirts. Originating from Tupelo—often recognized as the birthplace of Elvis Presley—it was considered relatively refined for its time. There’s even an anecdote that Elvis’s mother, who worked in a sewing factory, may have sewn garments using this very cloth.
Finished with a degreased wash for a dry handfeel, the fabric combines sulfur-dyed grey yarns in the warp with indigo-dyed blue yarns, allowing the garment to develop nuanced fading and character over time.
