LOT.322 SPORTS JACKET "MELANGE CHARCOAL"
Details:
- Crafted in a reproduction of "TWEEDUROY" used in the 1930s sports jackets in Takahashi's collection. "TWEEDUROY" is a printed corduroy fabric to resemble wool tweed, and was used mainly for boys' and school uniforms. It is not clear whether it was developed because it was more durable than wool fabrics, or whether it was developed to imitate tweed and appear luxurious. This unique fabric was created by the Hockmeyer Company of Massachusetts and was used in adult clothing as time went on. The jacket for boys, based on the Cossack jacket that was popular at the time, was redesigned with a sense of balance that would allow it to be worn by adults while respecting existing details.
