- Crafted from a substantial original fabric woven with domestically spun blended yarns of linen and ramie. Using the same blend for both the warp and weft creates a fabric with a firm structure, natural texture, and a comfortable weight. Originally developed by MITTAN, this fabric has been revived and brought back into production. The pants feature a voluminous silhouette, offering generous room through the hips and legs while maintaining a clean, relaxed drape. An elastic waistband with an internal drawcord provides a comfortable fit, while belt loops are included for additional support when carrying items in the pockets. A zipper fly and large rear patch pockets add everyday functionality. The substantial fabric weight and relaxed proportions create a clean, flowing silhouette. The balance of linen’s natural drape and ramie’s structure offers both durability and refinement. This fabric is dyed using a traditional mud dyeing technique, enhancing the depth of color while creating a naturally uneven appearance. An ancient Japanese dyeing method, it begins by boiling the tannin-rich wood of the wheel plum tree to extract a reddish-brown dye. The fabric is then repeatedly treated in iron-rich mud, resulting in the distinctive deep, earthy tone characteristic of mud dyeing.
